Damage reported in 11 states

BOWLING GREEN, KY (CNN) -- A tornado with winds reaching 150 mph tore through Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Saturday, killing at least 32 people and injuring dozens more. The tornado was part of a series of severe storms that swept across the Midwest and South, causing damage in 11 states.

The National Weather Service confirmed that the tornado that hit Bowling Green was an EF4 tornado, the second-highest rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. The tornado was on the ground for more than 200 miles and caused widespread damage to homes and businesses.

In addition to the damage in Bowling Green, there were reports of tornado damage in several other states, including Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio. The storms also caused power outages and flooding in some areas.

The death toll from the storms is expected to rise as search and rescue crews continue to work through the wreckage. President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency in Kentucky and has ordered federal assistance to be sent to the affected areas.
