Google Eases Ban on Cryptocurrency Ads
New Policy Allows Certain Types of Ads
Limited to Certified Exchanges and Wallets
Google has announced an update to its policy regarding cryptocurrency advertisements. The new policy, effective January 29th, 2024, will allow advertisers to run ads promoting cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets that have been certified by Google.
This change follows the company's initial ban on cryptocurrency ads in January 2018. However, in May of the same year, the ban was partially lifted to allow ads for certain regulated cryptocurrency exchanges.
To run cryptocurrency ads, advertisers must meet specific requirements and obtain certification from Google. The certification process involves demonstrating compliance with relevant regulations and providing transparency about the products or services being advertised.
Ads must not promote cryptocurrency trading platforms, software, or related services that enable cryptocurrency speculation or trading.
